Why now?
- EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM): For exporters of iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen to the EU, the definitive period began on 1 January 2026; embedded emissions in products must be calculated and verified.
- Turkish Climate Law (2025): Established the legal framework for an Emissions Trading System and climate change obligations.
- Customer and finance demands: Large buyers ask suppliers for carbon data, and banks require measurable targets for sustainability-linked loans.
- ISO 50001:2018/Amd 1:2024: Requirement to consider climate change in management systems.
Scope of service
Greenhouse gas inventory
Scope 1 (direct fuel), Scope 2 (purchased electricity/heat) and material Scope 3 items under ISO 14064-1 and the GHG Protocol.
Product carbon footprint
Energy and emissions per product or per tonne; a dataset suitable for CBAM reporting.
Reduction roadmap
Energy efficiency, fuel switching, electrification, renewable energy (rooftop solar) and waste heat projects ranked by cost and CO₂ impact.
Reporting
Energy and emissions indicators for sustainability reports and customer questionnaires.
The link with energy efficiency
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are calculated directly from energy consumption. The metering infrastructure built through an energy audit and ISO 50001 is also the basis of the carbon calculation; every savings measure is at the same time a reportable emissions reduction.
Frequently asked questions
How is a carbon footprint calculated?
Fuel, electricity and other activity data are multiplied by the relevant emission factors and expressed in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. ISO 14064-1 and the GHG Protocol are used for corporate inventories; for products, the relevant product standards or the CBAM methodology.
Who is affected by CBAM?
It directly affects producers exporting iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen products to the EU, and indirectly the suppliers providing them with raw materials and intermediate products.
